5th North Camporee 2012, N.Velidhoo - The Journey to Velidhoo

It was 17 March 2012, and all the Scouts of Second Lhaviyani Scout Group (SLSG) were to be present in the school at 6.00 in the Morning with their luggage to start their journey to N. Velidhoo to participate in the Annual 5th North Camporee. The 25 members who were supposed to go were shortlisted to 23 members, hence all the 23 members and the 9 Senior Leaders were READY for the Camporee ahead. The First task for the gathered gang was to check whether all the items and things required were in the School. Next came the difficult one. Transferring those items in the School to the Boat. But the Scouts were too ready for the task. They completed this difficult task in less than 30 minutes which gave them a rest of about 45 minutes which enabled them to go to their homes and to say farewells to their beloved families and friends.
At about 09.30 a.m. the scouts again gathered at the "New Harbor" to start their journey to the North Camporee. Everything was moved to the boat and all that remained was getting to the boat and wait for a one and a half an hour before we reach our destination! Before the scouts got into the boat, Mr. Ali Ahmed, the Coordinator of the Scouts met them and gave a speech saying that the first priority of them should be to have a good conduct in the Camporee. And he also hailed the scouts to do their best to achieve a good result. After the speech of the Coordinator, all the Scouts got into the boat.

On the Boat

It was about 09.45, when all the participants at last got onto the Boat. Happiness was seen through each and every participant, as they were eager to participate in their very first Camporee. The journey to N. Velidhoo takes one and a half an hour.

So during the journey, Scouts decided to pump up their spirits by playing the Maldivian traditional "Bodu Beru". The time went unknowingly, and at last it was the time to put our foot into the lands of N. Atoll Velidhoo. By the looks of it, a great Welcome Item, waits before us!
