5th North Camporee - In N. Velidhoo, before Opening Ceremony

The Arrival

It was about 11.30, when the Scouts finally arrived to N. Velidhoo. We were heartily welcomed to the grounds of N. Velidhoo, where we saw familiar faces as it was just 2 years back when we visited the same island for the "Scout Visit". Before we saw anything new, we were seated before a group of N. Velidhoo scouts, who gifted us with a traditional "Fali Dance".

It was a spectacular moment as the scouts of N. Velidhoo were so good at dancing with the rhythm of the music. But this did not turn us the SLSG scouts down, as we still had a trump card up our sleeves as, we were to play, "BoduBeru" at the same place after this item of the N. Velidhoo scouts. The item of the N. Velidhoo scouts soon ended and it was our turn to rock the place out. Our "Bodu Beru" was a little bit different, but we weren't surprised as the N. Velidhoo residents really loved our item!!
The "Lava Set" of ours ended with giving us a good boost for the Camporee which will start on the 18th March. So, after the item ended, we were said that we should walk to the Camp Site, as all the luggage and all other things we brought will be lifted by Velidhoo workmen. While we walked to our Camp Site, the Scout Flag was lifted by Rover Scout, Mohamed Muneeb and the School Flag was lifted by the Rover Scout, Mohamed Shaan. And after a couple of  minutes of long walk, (during our walk, we saw a lot of banners that showed Scout Law and Scout Motto, so we knew N. Velidhoo was a hell of a ready for the 5th Camporee.) we reached our Camp Site. The Gate to the Camp Site was also really decorated and very thoughtfully made, which showed the great art of the artists of N. Velidhoo. Our Camp Site was the last to the left of the Camp Site Gate, which put us near R. Inguraidhoo, 6th Raa Scout Group. And beside the R. Inguraidhoo scouts were the 5th Raa Scout Group, Scouts of R. Maduvvaree. By the looks of the Scouts of this two groups, we knew we were with a strong competitors!

Settling Down

We didn't waste more time, the first step for us was to build up a tent to store things in. This tent later became the Sleeping one for all the Scouts for that night, hence the tent wasn't small. Excluding this bigger tent we still had a smaller 3 tents set up. So, some of the Scouts were taken for this task and the others went to clean up our Camp site area. Before long the whole area was cleaned up and the scouts who were involved in the process went to help the Rover or Senior scouts to make some gadgets for the kitchen. The day soon ended and scouts seem a little bit tired from all the work they did. So, they deserved a good night sleep. By the way, the courageous work of the Parents to fill up the scouts with food cannot be left unsaid. They worked pretty hard to make some five-star rated food for us, scouts. The Camporee Office later at the night announced that there will be the Rehearsal of the Opening Ceremony early on the morning next day, so no one wasted any more time and soon we found them sleeping soundly and heartily.

18th March

All the Scouts were taken up at 4.30 in the morning for the early morning prayer and all got re freshened for the prayer. After the prayer, they had their breakfast and before long they got ready for the Rehearsal. The Scouts were accompanied to the Rehearsal by the two Rover Scouts, Mohamed Shaan and Mohamed Muneeb. The Rehearsal went smoothly without any problem, so it ended soon and gave us big time to make our camp site ready before the Opening Ceremony. After the Rehearsal the SLSG scouts were ready to put their very best efforts to make their camp site neat, clean and healthy. The biggest project on the day was to build the Actual Tent which will be built using the Maldivian traditional "Fan' Bondi". Before the Opening Ceremony about 50% of the Tent was done, so there was nothing big to worry! The Scouts of Second Lhaviyani Scout Group (SLSG) were in their full spirits when they got  ready go to the official Opening Ceremony of the 5th North Camporee..!!
